The UFC’s heavyweight division has had it’s share of big fights over the last few months and that run is set to continue at UFC 146. The landscape of the division is going to be changed drastically a Junior dos Santos will make his first defense of the heavyweight title again Alistair Overeem. Dos Santos won the title with a 64 second knockout of Cain Velasquez on the UFC on FOX event.

Speaking of Cain Velasquez, he will also be on the card. He will be looking to confirm himself as the number contender for the heavyweight title when he faces Frank Mir. Cain will looking to bound back from his title lose. Frank Mir will prove to be a difficult opponent. Mir is currently riding a 3 fight win streak his last win being the devastating submission win over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Another match-up at UFC 146 which will have a huge impact on the heavyweight division is Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva’s debut against Roy Nelson. Silva will be looking to gate crush the heavyweight title picture with a win over the man they call big country. If Silva does win this fight then Roy Nelson should move down to light-heavyweight where he would be a real force.

Wow Rampage was really serious when he said he was going to quit the UFC.

Rampage asked to be released but the UFC have announced that he will fight Shogun in the summer as Rampage has one fight left on his contract.

Jackson said that he is extremely frustrated with the matches the UFC have offered him recently because they have all been against wrestlers.

Rampage needs to accept the fact that MMA has evolved considerably since the early days where fighters where skilled in only one discipline. Jon Jones said that the only thing to worry about when it comes to Rampage is his boxing and that is very true. Rampage’s skillset has not improved. Arguably it could be calmed that he is a worst fighter now than his days in Pride.

The fight with Shogun is a rematch from when the two men fought in Pride. Let’s hope that Rampage goes out with a bang in his last fight in the UFC.

It has been a crazy couple of weeks for Ben Henderson. After finally realising his dream and winning the UFC lightweight title he is now suspended for medical reasons.

Henderson, who defeated Frankie Edgar via decision to win the UFC lightweight title, is suspended 180 days due to possible hand and left-foot fractures. A doctor can clear him early, but regardless, he’s suspended 45 days with no contact during training for 30 days for precautionary reasons.

Henderson is not the only one who has been suspended on medical grounds.

Rampage Jackson’s 180-day suspension is the result of a possible right-knee injury, though he, too, can be cleared early. Regardless, he’s suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days.

In total around 9 fighters were suspended for medical grounds. It just goes to show how brutal an event UFC 144 was for the fighters. They really did put it all on the line in an amazing event.
